There is an AC Transit Bus stop located on the corner of the property, a BART station approximately four miles away, and the Richmond Parkway Transit where you can Park and Share a Ride approximately two miles away.

Why was renovation done?
We are committed to providing our residents with the absolute highest quality of service and the transformation done is necessary to continue to ensure the health and safety of our occupants. This is our primary concern. We reconditioned the entire building complex so that tenants would be moving into a fully updated state of the art building.
We completely transformed the unit interiors to include all state of the art features:
- Double pane energy efficient and more soundproof windows
- Central dehumidifier in every unit
- Designer kitchen layout, including real wood shaker cabinets with an island style serving bar with stainless steel hardware and a USB port
- Glass and stainless steel backsplashes
- New stainless steel appliances, sinks and faucets, ceiling fan, and LED track lighting
- New flooring with luxury weathered faux-oak plank flooring and high profile baseboard
- Satin nickel ceiling fan, door levers, and hardware
- Bathrooms with Shaker cabinet vanities, medicine chests, countertops, satin nickel LED vanity lighting, framed mirrors, plumbing fixtures, and hardware
- Wood blinds and ribbed vertical blind window covering throughout
- Closet organizer shelving
- Two-tone designer paint on walls

The neighborhood has seen rapid transformation over the years, yet it has maintained a rural, small town feel. Remodeling and transforming the building enabled us to give something back to the community by providing convenient housing with a luxurious look and feel. Ultimately, the decision to transform the buildings into Solace Apartment Homes was inspired by the demographics of the area and the demand for housing. We took advantage of a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the community and generate revenue for nearby business owners.
In addition, the building’s convenient location makes it easy to access major roads and highways, making it an ideal place to live for commuters and professionals working locally. The easy accessibility of Solace Apartment Homes makes them perfect for tenants who take advantage of ride-sharing programs and transportation services like Uber and Lyft.
Our vision is to create an apartment complex that makes life easier. Solace Apartments fills a residential void by creating luxurious housing one can afford in a busy part of the city. Residents are walking distance from a number of shops and restaurants and very close to parks. Outdoor enthusiasts are less than a five-minute drive from Wildcat Canyon Park, a 2,429-acre wilderness enclave located within the city that perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, as well as five other recreational wonderlands that offer majestic walks, hiking, off road biking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, boating, oceanfront strolls, volleyball, and even houseboating.
Ultimately, we believe our decision to transform these buildings won’t only impact the residents, but rather the neighborhood as a whole. It’s the first step towards building a flourishing community that attracts business and creates a positive living environment.
What about public transportation to nearby colleges and UC Berkeley? The BART?
One of the benefits of living at Solace Apartment Homes is its central location. The buildings are only a few minutes away from I-80, so you don’t have to worry about sitting in stop-and-go city traffic at intersections during your morning commute.
There are a number of different options to navigate El Sobrante and the East Bay area without a car, and if you’re looking for a quick and direct route, there’s almost always an Uber and Lyft driver minutes away!
Resident can also rely on public transportation which makes traveling around the Bay Area easier than ever.
More than just Uber
While it’s safe to say that there are a number of Uber/Lyft drivers in the area at any given time, the rate at which you can be picked up and dropped off at your location can vary. It’s important to note that UBER/Lyft availability depends on the time of day.
One may experience longer wait times during peak hours or rush hour traffic when everyone is heading to and from work. During a time of day when Uber/Lyft drivers are in high demand, consider using a different form of public transportation.
One of the nicest features of living at Solace Apartment Homes is that there’s a bus stop conveniently located at the corner of the property that residents can use to travel around the area. This is a convenient alternative if you want to make quick trips around El Sobrante, Pinole, San Pablo, Richmond or other nearby communities without your car. The buses also run directly to major cities in the area, like Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland, which take approximately 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the bus. This makes getting to UC Berkeley and other nearby schools quick and easy.
In addition, there is a BART station approximately four miles from Solace Apartment Homes that is easily accessible by bus, bicycle, and Uber or Lyft.
Uber/Lyft takes anywhere between five to seven minutes on the main road on a good day, and about 15 minutes during peak time to get to the station.
At times when drivers are in high demand, it can take slightly longer for the Uber driver to show up. In that case, you might want to consider riding a bicycle or taking a bus to the station.
Driving your car to Bart might be a challenge as on-site parking and on-street parking is usually scarce and often requires permits.
The good news is that there are buses that depart near Solace Apartment Homes that will drop you off at or near the BART station in about 45 minutes. Some require changing buses, while others may stop a block or two away from the actual station.
To determine which bus is best for you, open Google Maps and run a search from the apartment’s address, 3535 El Portal Dr, El Sobrante, CA, to the nearest BART station to see which buses you can take to get there.
You can just search for BART after setting our address as your starting point and the nearest station will come up. Be sure to click the “Transit” icon (the one shaped like a subway car) before doing your search.
How is your parking availability?
We understand that residents who have moved from outside the Bay Area may have a difficult time adjusting to this reality that most of us have become accustomed to.
We believe that our Solace parking lot is able to accommodate one Reserved Parking Space per unit, a total of 194 units, which is almost unheard of, considering the demand for space in the East Bay. We also offer limited uncovered parking spaces on a first come first serve basis.
One way that we’ve reduced the strain caused by limited parking is to highlight Solace Apartment Homes’ excellent public transportation options.
This has helped make Solace Apartment Homes become a popular choice among people who don’t own automobiles, and we hope that this will free up a significant number of off-street parking spaces.
Convenient street parking
There is adjacent street parking near the building that can handle the overflow from our parking lot. We have installed, as a supplement to the city’s lights, high-powered street lamps to ensure that the area is brightly lit at night.
We’re happy to announce that our street parking options are located on a side street next close to the building, so tenants don’t have to worry about leaving their cars parked on the main road. We also give a set of keys to anyone who makes use of the side street parking so that they can access the gate’s side entrance.
Ultimately, there are a number of parking options available near the complex that provide safe alternatives to our on-site parking. While it’s our hope to ensure that everyone has a parking space, this is the nature of living in the Bay Area and is something that’s prominent with the vast majority of housing providers. There are simply too many people for the amount of land available in much of the Bay Area, so parking has become an issue in a lot of places, including San Francisco and Oakland. For this reason, state and local governments have been making a concerted effort to more encourage residents to switch to public transportation when available.
We would also like to encourage residents to switch to bicycles when possible. We even have a bicycle shop right next door for those who need repairs, accessories, or new bikes.
